The primary difference between a fiber laser and a CO2 laser is the wavelength of light they produce, with fiber lasers emitting a shorter wavelength, making them more suitable for cutting metals while CO2 lasers are better for cutting non-metallic materials like wood and plastics due to their longer wavelength; essentially, the type of material you want to work with determines which laser is best suited for the job.
We can engrave on everything from steel, aluminum, brass, copper, zink, acrylic, wood, plastics (including polymer)
The coins you find at the store are cast metal with a brass plating. My coins are solid brass.
Each coin is hand made. Most brass 3D coins take about 2-4 hours engrave. Then we debur the edges to smoothing them out. Next is to buff the coin to provide a nice shine. Finally a finish is applied and then sanded down to mostly show the valleys of the 3d coin.
Currently our fiber laser can only go up to 300mm X 300mm. (Which is 11.8 inches)
Our CO2 laser can do 600 x 308 mm. (26 x 14 inches)
While it is possible to get color on both steel and brass, the colors are limited. Brass only produces a few colors while steel produces a broader variety of colors. Unfortunately we cannot get every shade of every color on steel. The color also depends on how much ore is in the steel. Not all steel is made the exact same.
