Ordering & General

Do you have a minimum order quantity?
No. We have no minimum order quantity on most items. Single pieces, small runs, and bulk orders are all welcome. Pricing adjusts by volume — larger orders get a better per-unit rate.
How do I place an order?
The easiest way is through our online shop for standard items, or the quote request form for fully custom work. You can also reach us directly by phone or email and we’ll walk through the project together.
How long does it take to get a quote?
We respond to all quote requests within 24 hours, usually faster. Once we have your design file and specs, most quotes come back the same day.
Do you offer rush orders?
Yes. Rush production is available depending on current workload. Contact us before ordering to confirm availability and rush pricing.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards through our website. For in-person transactions at markets or gun shows, we use GoDaddy POS. We also accept payment through our Etsy shop for orders placed there.
Can I pick up my order in person?
Yes. Local pickup is available in Spring Branch, TX. Just let us know when placing your order and we’ll coordinate a time.
Do you ship outside Texas?
Yes — we ship nationwide via USPS, FedEx, or UPS. Most orders ship within 1–2 business days of completion.

Laser Engraving

What materials can you laser engrave?
Our CO2 laser handles wood, acrylic, leather, glass, and coated metals. Our fiber MOPA laser handles bare metals — stainless steel, aluminum, brass, titanium, and anodized aluminum. We also do rotary engraving on round objects like tumblers, bottles, and cylinders.
Can you engrave color onto stainless steel?
Yes. Our 80W JPT MOPA fiber laser can produce a full range of colors on stainless steel through laser color marking. Colors are permanent, chemical-free, and don’t require paint or coatings. Results depend on the finish and grade of the steel.
What file formats do you accept?
Vector files are preferred — AI, EPS, or SVG give us the cleanest results at any size. High-resolution PNG or JPG (300 DPI or higher) are also accepted. If you don’t have a file, we can work from a photo, a sketch, or an idea — design services are available.
Can you engrave items I already own?
In most cases, yes. Bring-your-own-item (BYOI) orders are welcome. Contact us with details and we’ll confirm whether it’s a good fit before you ship anything.
How precise is your engraving?
Very. Our fiber laser operates with a high-speed galvo system and multiple focal length lenses (110mm, 175mm, 200mm, 300mm) for different field sizes and detail levels. Fine text, small logos, and complex artwork are all within spec.

Challenge Coins

Can I order just one challenge coin?
Yes. There is no minimum order. Single pieces are welcome, as are small runs of 10, 50, 500, or more. Pricing scales with volume.
What are your challenge coins made from?
Our challenge coins are solid brass, laser engraved with our 80W JPT MOPA fiber laser. The result is a permanently deep-engraved coin — no paint, no fill, no peeling. Full-color designs are produced using laser color marking directly on the metal surface.
How long does it take to make a custom challenge coin?
Typical turnaround is 5–10 business days depending on design complexity and order size. Rush orders are available — contact us before ordering to confirm current lead times.
What file formats do you need for coin artwork?
Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG) are preferred for the cleanest engraving results. High-resolution PNG or JPG also accepted. No artwork? No problem — we offer design services and can build your coin artwork from scratch.
Can you match a specific coin design or unit insignia?
Yes. We work with unit crests, custom logos, and detailed artwork regularly. Provide a reference image and we’ll build a design proof for your approval before production starts.

Tumblers & Drinkware

What types of tumblers can you engrave?
We can engrave most standard stainless steel tumblers — 20oz, 30oz, 40oz, straight-wall, tapered, and handled. Brands like YETI, Stanley, and Ozark Trail work well. We use our CO2 laser with the RA2 Pro rotary attachment for cylindrical engraving.
Can you do a full-wrap design around the tumbler?
Yes. Our rotary attachment allows full 360° wrap engraving. Design files should account for the full circumference of the specific tumbler size.
Does engraving damage the coating on my tumbler?
Laser engraving removes the powder coat or paint layer to reveal the bare metal beneath — that’s intentional and how the contrast is created. The engraved area will show the raw stainless steel finish. If you want a specific look, let us know and we can discuss options.
Can I send in my own tumbler to be engraved?
Yes. Ship it to us or drop it off in person. Just contact us first so we can confirm it’s compatible with our equipment and agree on the design before anything ships.

3D Printing & Fabrication

What materials can you 3D print with?
We run a full fleet of FDM and resin printers. FDM materials include PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, carbon fiber composites, and specialty filaments. Our BambuLab H2C supports up to 24 simultaneous filaments and handles engineering-grade materials at up to 350°C. We also have UV resin capability for high-detail parts.
Can you print in multiple colors?
Yes. Our BambuLab H2C supports up to 24 colors in a single print, and our P1S handles up to 8. We also specialize in HueForge — a filament painting technique that uses layered translucency to produce photorealistic multi-color prints from standard filament.
How detailed can your 3D prints get?
Very detailed. Standard layer height is 0.08mm with a 0.4mm nozzle. For high-fidelity work we drop to 0.04mm layers with a 0.2mm nozzle. We also have an Eufymake E1 UV texture printer that applies tactile surface textures to finished prints.
Can you print from a file I provide?
Yes. We accept STL, 3MF, OBJ, and STEP files. Send your file along with color and material specs and we’ll run a print check before starting production.
Can you 3D scan an existing object and print a copy?
Yes. We have 3D scanning equipment integrated into our workflow, so we can digitize a physical object, modify it if needed, and print the result.

Firearms Engraving

Are you licensed to engrave firearms?
Yes. Project X Designs LLC holds a Federal Firearms License (FFL), which authorizes us to receive, handle, and engrave serialized firearms legally and in compliance with ATF regulations.
What can you engrave on a firearm?
We can engrave slides, frames, receivers, barrels, and most metal firearm components. Common work includes custom text, logos, unit insignia, serial number deepening (for compliance), and decorative artwork. All work must comply with federal and state regulations.
How does the firearm transfer process work?
For serialized firearms, the piece must be transferred to our FFL before engraving can begin. Contact us before shipping anything — we’ll walk you through the transfer process and paperwork so everything stays compliant.

Crystal & UV Sub-Surface Engraving

What is sub-surface UV engraving?
Sub-surface UV engraving uses a focused UV laser beam to create micro-fractures inside a transparent medium — K9 crystal, optical glass, or acrylic — without touching the surface. The result is a 3D image floating inside a clear block. The surface remains smooth and untouched.
What can be engraved inside crystal?
Portraits, logos, 3D objects, text, and memorial artwork are the most common. Pet portraits and K9 memorials are a specialty. We work from photos or 3D files and convert them to sub-surface engraveable data.
What photo quality do you need for a crystal portrait?
A clear, well-lit photo with the subject in focus is ideal. Higher resolution is better, but we can work with most modern smartphone photos. Avoid heavily filtered, blurry, or heavily shadowed images for best results.
